The health insurance is through Independence Blue Cross (aka Keystone Health Plan East). There are 2 plan options, the HMO Gold Proactive and PPO Gold Preferred 500.

  • Designed for companies in the Philadelphia area.
  • All local Philadelphia Blue Cross hospitals (and most doctors) are in-network but divided into tiers.
  • Costs vary by provider tier, with Tier 2 & 3 being more expensive than Tier 1, especially for costly services like hospitalization and surgery.
  • The Gold plan does NOT have a deductible.

  • National coverage with a large network.
  • No referrals needed for specialists.

Offered through Humana, this plan provides excellent benefits, particularly for those using glasses or contacts, with pre-tax premiums often costing less than annual vision care expenses.

This vision insurance can be used on top of the vision benefits with the health insurance. You can be double reimbursed for the same contacts / lenses. You should use the Humana insurance first, then request the reimbursement from health insurance vision coverage after.
